The Royal Mint celebrates Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's 90th Birthday and as of April 21, The Queen became the first British monarch to reach 90 years of age! This limited mintage coin is struck with 5oz. 999 fine silver and has been examined by NGC with a perfect PF70 Ultra Cameo grade and is one of the first 500 struck.
The coin's design, by Christopher Hobbs, reflects The Queens love of flowers. Reverse: The reverse coin image was inspired by the heraldic rose of England and The Queens love of flowers and features the stylized Royal Cypher of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the centre, a heraldic device similar to a monogram that represents the monarchs name and title, of EIIR, which is surrounded by a classical wreath of celebration. The roses are more natural than heraldic, each one different from the other and nine roses are used to signify the nine decades of The Queens life and the Royal Mint's pristine proof standard finish promotes intricate detail of the Royal Cypher and roses. The design has an oval rather than circular form to give more space to the central lettering and to add interest to the coin. Obverse: depicts an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, lettering'ELIZABETH II', denomination'10 POUNDS' and year date of issue'2016' is inscribed.
