This is a superb example of the Wedgwood Commemorative Mug produced in 1972 for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Wedding Anniversary. Designed by Richard Guyatt, the background colour is black, with white and gold decoration depicting silhouettes of the Queen's head and HRH Prince Philip's head, along with foliate wreaths surrounding the silhouettes, with gold crowns above. Also depicted in white and gold are wedding bells and ribbons. The rim is trimmed in silver and the outside of the handle has three silver lines.
The backstamp is in circular format, Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston Made in England, and beneath are the words. To commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary.Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. And His Royal Highness Prince Philip. At Westminster Abbey on 20 November 1947. The mug is one pint capacity, stands approximately 4.25 inches high, and is approximately 4.25 inches in diameter.
