Superb Cased Solid Sterling Silver Coronation Letter Opener 1953 Royalty Coronation. This wonderful rare British Solid Sterling Silver Letter Opener in the shape of a sword is very unique. The sword is approximately 8 1/2 inches long. And 1 3/4 inches wide and weighs 62 grams (2 oz).
Made to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, 1953. One side of the hilt depicts the rose for. Thistles for Scotland, and shamrock for Ireland. The other side has symbols for the four commonwealth countries. A beaver for Canada, kiwi for New Zealand, springbok for South Africa, and a kangaroo for Australia. The letter opener is fully hallmarked with the makers mark HA, in a rectangle for Harry Atkin, Crown for Sheffield, Lion Passant for Assayed English. Silver, A date letter of L for 1953, and a commemorative mark of the head of the Queen Elizabeth.
