A Rare Cased George VI Hallmarked Sterling Silver Canteen of Cutlery by Roberts & Belk. The Case Consists of 63 pieces for 6 place settings in the Rare Art Deco Design "Plain Pine" set within fitted Oak Canteen. In 1934 the White Star Cunard Liner The RMS Queen Mary was launched It was to spend the next 2 years being fitted out in readiness for its maiden voyage to New York in 1936 For there new Pride of the Fleet white star commissioned Elkington & Co to supply the flatware and cutlery for the first class sections and Roberts & Belk for the second class section. For the Roberts & Belk commission Walter Belk designed the classic Art Deco pattern "Plain Pine" and the design was registered in 1934 as Rd 798068 which each piece of this set has been stamped. 6 Table Forks 7 5/8" in Length with the tines 2 1/8" in length with a weight of 11.4 oz or 324 grams.
