A Rare Cased Queen Elizabeth II Irish Hallmarked Sterling Silver Gilt Communion Chalice and Paten by William Egan & Sons. The Chalice has a height of 8 3/4" with a diameter to the upper rim of 3 1/2" and a diameter of 6 1/4 to the base (between the points to the base) with a substantial weight of 15.4 oz or 436 grams.

The Paten has a diameter of 5 1/2" with a height to the rim of 1/4" and a weight of 4.2 oz or 120 grams. The Set is Stunning with the Chalice Cup standing on a spreading 6 point star base with a stepped outer remand having alternating engraved panels with 2 having scrolled foliate and flower work with the other panel showing Jesus on the Cross with the Holy Spear to the side these lead up to the knopped stem which also has 6 panels again with alternating foliate engraved panels which then leads to the upper body which again has alternating engraved panels with the paten being plain with a shallow dish across. The Inscription to the inside of the base reads "Rev Peter Garland from my Brothers and Sisters 29th June 1959".

The Fitted Case is 9 3/4" in length and 7 1/8" in width with a height of 7 beautifully fitted inside with black velvet rests for the Cup and Paten with a padded silk lining to the lid marked for the maker and retailer William Egan and Sons Patrick Street Cork with the outside finished in black with a single catch to the front. The Communion Chalice and Paten are in Excellent Condition. Town Mark - Hibernia - Dublin. Sterling Mark - Crowned Harp.

Date Letter - R - 1959. With matching hallmarks to the Paten and also to the inside of the base.
