Royal Thank You Letter Queen Elizabeth II/Prince Philip Silver Wedding 1972

  
It was to thank those who had contributed to a Silver Wedding Anniversary presents to mark her 25th Wedding Anniversary in 1972. The letter was received by a member of the household, Miss Marie Greiner, MVO, who worked for the Lord Chamberlain through the 1960's and 1970's.

Marie Lilian Greiner was made a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) in the Queeen's 1972 birthday honours list. The Royal Victorian Order is a British honour given by the Queen to people who have served her, or the Monarchy as a way of rewarding personal service to her. The letter reads:'We are most grateful for our splendid Silver Wedding presents.

Thank you for your share in The portrait of Edward, the harness and the bird bath, and the trees for Windsor, Balmoral and Sandringham, all of which have given us great pleasure. We have been much touched by your kind good wishes on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of our wedding''Elizabeth R Philip. Also there is the original invitation to Miss M L Greiner to the Ballroom, Buckingham Palace on Wednesday 22 November 1972 when Her Majesty and His Royal Highness have graciously consented to be present to meet Members of the Household, Officials and Staff.
